Switching Gears

Next month’s Guided Journal theme is Fitness! Brainstorm today about what “fitness” goals and guilt look like for you…then get ready to show up for a month of movement along side your sisters! We’re in this together!

Recap

Hindsight is 20/20. Look back over the month. Piece together lessons, visions, and goals in your writing today. Write about what has become clearer on the other side of the guided journal prompts. What will you easily carry over into subsequent months?

Thank You Day!

The first “bonus day” of each month is always Than You Day! Take a moment to send a text, make a call, or write a handwritten note to someone who has helped you this month.

What Surprised You Most?

Write about what surprised you most this month. Was it you? Was it something about money? Take a few moments to expand on something unique or surprisingly motivating that you learned.

Today’s Action:

Financial Goals

What are your current financial goals? How do they differ from the beginning of the month? How have they expanded? Organize your new goals on paper. Include action steps that you will need to complete to move forward with those goals…and then take action. You are worth it.

Today’s Action:

Taxes

It’s tax season. Make a promise to yourself that you won’t get behind this year or stress out about deadlines. Organize paperwork, make tax appointments, file papers, interview accountants, or research a tax law that might apply to you this year. Start today.

Today’s Action:

Books

What finance book is your favorite? Which ones have you always wanted to read? Never read any? Today is the day. Go back to that favorite book…pick up the one you’ve always wanted to read…or start reading one! Today’s action is all about cracking open a book and learning.

Today’s Action:

Podcasts

Have you been listening to personal finance podcasts this month? If so, write down your favorites. If not, hop on board that train! Podcasts are a great way to break through the awkwardness of talking about finance by listening to other people talk about it freely, openly, and often with a bit of humor. Podcasts really bring in the human element with personal stories and insights.

Take action based on a podcast from this month…or listen to one for the first time!

Today’s Action:

Websites

What websites have you found this month that speak to you? Are they blogs? Investment wesbsites? More personal sites like The Holistic Wallet’s www.michellebobrow.com ? List your favorites and write about what inspired you most or caught your attention this month. Take action on that point of interest and inspiration.

Today’s Action:

Start

Today we move past our emotions and old habits that might be holding us back about money and start shifting our perspective by actively gathering resources. Today is the day we look back over the articles, podcasts, and books and take action on one finance/money item in our lives.

I learned from Dr. Donna Lane that : “According I learned from Dr. Donna Lane that : “According to a 2016 study published by Whitney and Peterson, one in six kids between 6 and 17 have a mental health diagnosis. This was, of course, pre-COVID. A recent study in Psychiatric Times indicated that isolation and loneliness increase the risk of depression up to 9 years after the event, and the duration vs. the intensity of loneliness was more likely to cause long-term mental health issues.”

No wonder our children’s mental health is one of the main concerns of many moms I talk with. But there are so many stigmas around mental health and fear of diagnosis that it can be difficult to navigate the world of mental health for ourselves, let alone our children.

We’ve talked about adult mental health topics here on the podcast before, but today we’re turning our focus to children’s mental health.

Dr. Donna’s messages are for moms of younger kids as well as moms of teens who are concerned about the isolation from peer relationships and how that’s affecting their kids, signs to look for, and how to reach out. There are some thorough and helpful links to resources in the show notes.

Donna’s Bio: @thedoctorslane Drs. David and Donna Lane are a husband-wife counseling duo who specialize in trauma, grief, and loss as well as family relationships. While qualified by education, their life experience shapes much of their current-day work, as they have experienced first-hand the horrific death of their own son, who had a neurological disorder throughout his 17 years on earth. The Lanes are professors, counselors, consultants and award-winning authors; their research and writing on trauma and grief has been used extensively throughout the world in the aftermath of tragedies including the Sandy Hook shootings, Haiti earthquakes, Rwandan genocide and others. The Lanes live in the Atlanta area and have been married to each other for more than 40 years.

She chose to study them. I chose to support her. 💞 Learning happens everywhere. Homeschool isn’t about recreating the classroom at home 😘

If you’re frustrated with homeschool, I highly recommend pajamas and podcasts and taking it easy 💗
Today’s homeschool pivot: veterinary play. It Today’s homeschool pivot: veterinary play.

It doesn’t matter what my homeschool planner says...it’s what they’re passionate about & motivated to learn. Friday it was architecture. Today it’s veterinary medicine.

My job is to kindle the flame of their hearts & imaginations, not check boxes 😘

All of life is learning. What will these pivots turn into, I wonder 😍

We’re putting Elevating Motherhood into action o We’re putting Elevating Motherhood into action over on Patreon! 🥳

I’ve been researching how & where to gather support for moms OFF of social media and Patreon is it! 🙌

It’s an ad-free, no distraction space where we can gather, learn together, dive deep into topics, and just be with other moms in a positive, supportive place without all the nonsense! Like an online moms group 🥰

I’ll be hosting a monthly class there as well! 💜 A virtual “moms night in” once a month where we can gather and learn fun skills together and connect during this odd time of being apart. April’s class is “Elevating Your Everyday Cooking with Kris Dovbniak” on Friday, April 23rd 👩🏻‍🍳 It’s incredible!

This Patreon space is a collaboration of all my favorite things…hanging out with moms, having deep, meaningful conversations, and learning new skills with my friends! 💗

Happy Easter! ✝️🐇🌷💗 Happy Easter! ✝️🐇🌷💗
The timing of this episode just felt “right.” The timing of this episode just felt “right.” 💙 So many mamas have reached out to me over the years wanting to know how they can help create lasting, positive change in their communities. I’ve shared a lot of this info one on one but with so many “what can we do?” messages flooding my DMs, I knew it was time to share the how, why, who, and when behind standing up, reaching out, and lobbying for topics you feel are important.

Our topics may be different but our passion is the same. Moms can (& do!) change the world! 🙌

I hope this episode empowers you to speak up when your intuition tells you it’s time about topics that tug on your mama heart 😘

Check out the detailed “how to” ideas listed in the show notes.

Also, do me a favor and share the heck out of this episode so as many mamas as possible can have this information as resource for speaking up! 🙌
