This month has been intense

We’ve looked at the big topics in our hearts and minds, reflected (A LOT!), and took action…all while completing the tasks that fill our everyday lives. I’m proud of you. This month really was a giant leap forward on our quest to align our values and our actions. Spend some time reading over your journal answers from this month. Which value stands out to you the most? Why? Does it feel like the most important one in your life or one that needs to become the most important? The one that needs the most work? The one you find the easiest? Write about what area of your life you are inspired to focus on more moving forward.

The good news…next month is going to be lighter! June 2019 is Mom Style month! Join us here tomorrow as we dive into Mom Style! We’ll be talking self-care, hair, make-up, clothing, and feeling like our best selves while busting through comparison on our way to being inspired and being an inspiration!

Admiration

Whose global legacy do you admire? This can be people who are living or passed. Take a few moments to write down whose vision and drive inspired generations of change, movements, raised awareness, and made the world a better place. Be specific about character traits or actions this person has/had that have earned your admiration.

Thank You Day!

The first bonus day at the end of each month is always Thank You Day! There have been people who have helped you along the way this month…let’s thank them for their support! Think about the person you are grateful for and then send them a thank you as a letter, text, call, or an in-person hug. Take your gratitude off the paper and express it!

Will/Trust: Deadline

It’s almost the last day of the month. Commit to completing your will/trust before the end of the month so you can finally cross it off your to-do list!

Have you completed your will/trust? If yes, how does it feel to be done? If not, what steps do you need to take to complete your will/trust? What actions can you take today to meet your goal/deadline?

Success

Success is personal. For most of us, it no longer looks like achieving the “American Dream” (which feels outdated and irrelevant to many in our modern culture). A successful life is achieving what we set out to do. It doesn’t have to look like money or a job title. A successful life can be one where we lived our values, built our character, grew as a person, loved well…it’s a life where our actions and values aligned. What would you define as a successful life for you? Do you feel you’re on that path? What do you need to focus on or do to remain on that path?

Again, this doesn’t have to be a heavy topic but one that inspires you. If you ever start to get bogged down with the topics, move toward the lightness of it, the inspiration, the passion, the excitement of things to come! Where we are in this moment isn’t where we will always be. Every moment that goes by is our opportunity to do better, feel better, and live our best life.

Causes

Do you currently support causes? If so, which ones? Why do you feel called to support them? Are there causes you would like to support more? Which ones do you believe in? These can be specific organizations or simply general topics.

Spend a few moments thinking outside yourself and how all of this week’s topics align for you: philanthropy, purpose, and generosity. Causes/organizations create the opportunity for putting these three elements into action.

Generosity

How do you define generosity? What role does generosity play in philanthropy? Do you value generosity? Are you known as a generous person? Is this a value you want to pass onto your children? Write about it.

Purpose

A sense of purpose is important. As mothers, our sense of purpose can feel obvious from the outside, but not as clear from the inside. Do you feel a sense of purpose? Do you have a focus in life that is driving your every day actions? How would you describe your purpose?

If this idea feels overwhelming, start with the “who” in your life. Write about who you show up for…your children, family, yourself when you focus on your health and self care, etc. Or draw from your week 3 answers about values and character.

Life mission statements are no small task. That doesn’t mean it has to feel heavy. Getting clear on our sense of purpose and what we feel called to do can bring freedom, excitement, and inspiration. It can add meaning and depth to our lives as women and mothers. If might require more than just one day of journaling. Write a bit about where you are now to create head and heart space for your purpose to unfold.

Philanthropy

Generosity of spirit and resources is not something reserved for when we pass, but something we practice can practice now. Are you philanthropic? Do you have an abundance mindset and share your time/money/energy/support when you can? Do you value philanthropy? Look up to philanthropists and those who help others? Is philanthropy a value you want to pass on to your children? Write about the role of philanthropy in your life and legacy.

(Note: If you feel called to dive deeper into philanthropy, November 2018’s Guided Journal is about Philanthropy. It’s an opportunity to spend an entire month on the subject! Go check it out here).

Action Taker

Continuing last week’s discussion of values and character…are you an action taker? Are you known for taking action? Showing up and putting in the work is important. You’re proving to yourself that you can be an action taker by showing up and answering the journal prompts. Are you taking those answers one step further and making them come to life off the page? Write about what inspires you to take action, what some of your hang ups about taking action might be, and if action is a current family value.

Day 6 of our “official” new homeschool year an Day 6 of our “official” new homeschool year and we pressed pause on everything to start Jane Austen’s Mansfield Park on the front porch while holding cats, petting dogs, and soaking up the last of the summer sunshine. ☀️🍁🥹☕️

This is the life. 🩵 Truly, truly. There is nothing else I’d rather be doing than reading Jane Austen with my kids in the sunshine when the moment strikes them.

10/10 recommend this Usbourne introduction to Jane Austen. It’s captivating and beautiful!

What a summer of simple joys and beautiful days wi What a summer of simple joys and beautiful days with my children! 🥰

Lord, open my eyes so that I can take in the joy that is meant for me in this beautiful life. Help me and my family to continue to keep our eyes open as we enter into the new homeschool year. Draw us closer to each other and closer to you. Amen.

Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law. Psalm 119:18

Blessings on your new homeschool year! 🙏🏼😘
A rainy summer day at home Sleeping in, not sure A rainy summer day at home

Sleeping in, not sure if by accident or on purpose
Coffee with my best friend
Our toddler requested banana bread
So I made some
The rain became more steady
So we made tea
And opened our poetry book
One poem was so beautiful, I cried
Wide eyes asking questions
Then laughing at the next poem
I love these days, my children, and poetry
A little school
And a lot of home
I treasure our time together
I stare wide eyed back at them
The seasons are shifting
And so are we.

There’s only two things that money can’t buy a There’s only two things that money can’t buy and that’s true love and homegrown tomatoes! 🍅

Those three humble cherry tomatoes are from my garden and the heirloom tomatoes are from the store 😂 (But my tiny tomatoes definitely tasted better than store-bought ones! Motivation to grow more next year!) I didn’t have enough for my caprese sourdough bread so I combined the two 🙂

👩🏻‍🍳LB Style Recipe:

Sourdough pizza crust can just be a regular sourdough bread recipe but add garlic, oregano, basil, and olive oil. 1 loaf is 2 crusts.

Put your halved dough in a pan and cook it hot (450-500) for about 8 minutes to cook the crust partway.

Take it out, add your toppings, & put it back in the oven until it’s done enough for you and your family. 😂

For this dish, I loosely followed @halfbakedharvest recipe for caprese garlic bread with crispy prosciutto. I subbed salami for prosciutto because that’s what I had on hand and I cooked everything instead of keeping it cold on top.

That’s my favorite way to cook…read other recipes for reference, see what I have on hand, and make adjustments. The only thing I actually follow a written recipe for is baking 😉

Now’s a great time to dive into your garden and grab basil and tomatoes! For more great tomato recipes (and recipes with details 😂) check out my friends along with our hashtag #homemakerscircle

Today was a ✨perfect✨ homeschool day Not bec Today was a ✨perfect✨ homeschool day

Not because I was the perfect teacher or they sat perfectly still in their seats and got 100% in their workbooks…

It was perfect because we were together and learning and enjoying one another. Comfortable and content at home. 🥰

It was perfect because I got to be the one they ran to when they found a giant peacock moth caterpillar, the little one shouting, “Mom! Come here! It’s a calerpitter emergency! Tell us what it is!” 🥹

It was perfectly natural and relaxed, despite poopy diapers, ill-timed giggles, misplaced supplies, squirming in seats, daydreaming, chatting about everything, and any other occurrence I could have called “annoying” or an “interruption.” It was perfect all the same. 🥹
